My interest in embroidery must have been passed down from generation to generation

Makhliyo Mannonova’s passion for embroidery has indeed been shaped by inheritance. In her family, her grandmother, mother, and aunts were all engaged in sewing and embroidery. This craft was not just a simple skill, but a tradition passed down through generations.

Originally from Fergana Region, after moving to Shakhrisabz as a bride, Makhliyo began to explore the embroidery traditions and the art of “kashta” specific to this region in greater depth. It was here that she came to understand how rich this art form is, discovering the diversity of patterns, ornaments, and styles, and eventually turning embroidery into her professional field.

In her work, Makhliyo Mannonova uses ancient motifs with a history of more than 3,000 years. Today, she produces a wide range of items based on traditional and national designs, including hats, wallets, boots, slippers, various bags, and suits.

She has been engaged in entrepreneurship for 14 years. Over this period, the products created under her leadership have gone beyond Uzbekistan’s borders and are now delivered to customers in Turkey and several European countries.

One of the key directions of her activity is education. Makhliyo Mannonova teaches embroidery to students of institutes and universities based on the traditional “master–apprentice” approach. This allows young people to learn a craft and earn income. As a result, embroidery is developing not only as a cultural heritage but also as a source of economic stability.

Her entrepreneurial journey was significantly supported by the HAMROH company. With HAMROH’s assistance, Makhliyo Mannonova successfully launched her personal brand, taking her work to a new level—systematizing production and building a full-fledged brand based on traditional national embroidery.

In 2024, her contribution to entrepreneurship was officially recognized at the national level, and Makhliyo Mannonova was awarded the “Faol Tadbirkor” (Active Entrepreneur) badge.

Today, her activities cover several key directions: preserving traditional craftsmanship, developing modern production, training young people in professional skills, and building a sustainable business model based on national cultural heritage.

My interest in embroidery must have been passed down from generation to generation,” says Makhliyo Mannonova. Her life path clearly demonstrates how a family tradition can evolve into a professional career, a personal brand, and a sustainable business.
