Korpe: A quilted textile showroom opens in Tashkent with support from Hamroh

The “Korpe” brand is opening new horizons with Hamroh

Tashkent, May 3, 2025 — A showroom titled “Korpe”, dedicated to preserving and promoting one of Central Asia’s important cultural heritage elements — traditional quilted textiles — has officially opened in Tashkent. The project was implemented in partnership between Hamroh Company and Xalq Bank JSC. Within the framework of this collaboration, the founder of the “Korpe” brand, Marjon Dusalieva, received a preferential loan through the Hamroh program from Xalq Bank and benefited from financial support as well as mentorship and advisory assistance from Hamroh experts at every stage of the process.

Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairperson of the Committee on Family and Women’s Affairs, Zulaykho Makhamova, delivered a speech at the event:

“Today, large-scale efforts are being implemented in our country to develop and support women’s entrepreneurship. Thanks to creativity, incentives, and opportunities, thousands of women are starting their own businesses and making a significant contribution to the development of our society. The ‘Korpe’ brand is one of such inspiring initiatives: this project not only revives traditional textile and embroidery in a modern interpretation but also creates jobs for women and unlocks their creative potential. Of course, today’s opening would not have been possible without the support of Hamroh Company, to whom I extend my sincere gratitude.”

In addition, Nozimakhon Davletova, Head of the Department for Analysis of Foreign Policy Activities and Expansion of Foreign Economic Relations under the Presidential Administration, member of the Supervisory Board of Hamroh Company, and Chair of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Council, stated:

“Special attention is being paid in our country to supporting women entrepreneurs. On March 8 this year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the allocation of preferential loans. Shortly after, Saida Mirziyoyeva called me and emphasized the importance of ensuring that these resources are used in a transparent, structured, and effective way. This is why Hamroh Company was established — as a structure that truly supports women entrepreneurs. Our main goal is to support women like Marjon, help them grow their businesses, and strengthen their confidence.”

The “Korpe” concept incorporates various traditional craftsmanship techniques and decorative patterns from the peoples of Central Asia, including carpet embroidery, hand stitching, and textile weaving. The showroom features traditional quilts created based on the national ornaments of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. These pieces serve not only as elegant decorative elements for modern interiors but also as vibrant accessories for cultural events.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Uzbekistan, Aurélia Bouchez, also shared her views on cultural cooperation and support for women’s entrepreneurship:

“In France, we greatly value the art and craftsmanship of Uzbekistan. In Paris, two major exhibitions dedicated to Uzbek textiles, fabrics, and traditions have already been held, which were opened in November 2022 by Saida Mirziyoyeva. It is a great honor for me to take part in today’s event. When it comes to women, in French tradition we highly value their role, and I am glad to see such values reflected in Uzbekistan as well. I am confident that this project will be successful, and the French Embassy is ready to provide full support.”

During the event, the history of the “Korpe” brand was presented, along with a staged performance showcasing Uzbek traditions symbolizing family, prosperity, and cultural continuity through the art of quilt-making. In conclusion, the organizers emphasized the project’s main goal — to preserve cultural heritage and connect it with modern society through the support of women’s entrepreneurship.
